Red Carpet Redux: Young Hollywood Awards
Thursday night’s Young Hollywood Awards saw the likes of Ginnifer Goodwin, Sophia Bush, and Kiernan Shipka contend for best dressed on the red carpet.
The evening's host, Twilight's Ashley Greene, went in a sexy separates direction—a very sequined, slightly Chicago interpretation of "wearing the pants"—while Philanthropy Award recipient Sophia Bush turned up in a low-key and modest graphic sundress that said "I care about fashion to a point, but there are more important things, people!" Pretty, if not exactly earth-shattering.
Goodwin was honored with the Style Icon Award thanks to such scene stealing looks as the tangerine Monique Lhuillier silk chiffon gown she donned for this year’s Met Ball, and the pixie-cropped actress played it safe in dressing to accept the accolade, wearing a short-sleeved white lace cocktail dress that looked like something Audrey Hepburn might rock at her rehearsal dinner. Comedy actress Whitney Cummings presented the honor to her bestie, praising Goodwin for her trendspotting abilities, as well as digging into the actress's fashion don'ts archive by outing her onetime predilection for a pink onesie Cummings described as "Build-a-Bear."
So where did we turn for a fashion thrill, Young Hollywood style? Firstly, in the direction of Mad Men mini-starlet Kiernan Shipka, who sparkled in a Miu Miu dress with crystal white daisy embellishments, chiffon cap sleeves and a floral lace skirt, like some sort of prima ballerina gone couture. Describing the ensemble as "fun," the actress seemed most excited about her bow-adorned magenta open-toe pumps; but, to be honest, we couldn't stop admiring her Brooke Shields brows, which made us want to go on an extreme tweezing diet. January Jones, Shipka's on-screen mom, was on hand to present the actress with her Scene Stealer Award, and the two enjoyed a decidedly awkward hug (below) to mark the occasion, awww.stylebistro
